Southern California's Souell Productions partners with Aladanza
Dance Academy, making a new strategic alliance in Montevideo, Uruguay. From January 16th to January 24th,
2004 Souell Productions will be blazing artistic pathways in Montevideo,
Uruguay on its second South American Tour. Fusing dance styles from Western
Europe and both Americas, Souell's new dance workshop "Meu America
Moves” involves teachers and students in a cross-cultural exchange with
students from: Aladanza Academy of Dance, California State University at Northridge,
Moorpark College, and Rozann-Zimmermans Ballet Center. This collaboration of talent
surpasses cross-cultural boundaries by situating dancers of Montevideo and
Los Angeles in a nurturing environment that promotes inventiveness and
originality. Reflections contemporary music and
dance workshop curriculum consists of Contemporary Ballet, Modem Dance, Jazz,
Hip-Hop, Social Dancing, and Musical Theater repertoire which also showcases
teachers, choreographers, and singers from the Los Angeles Area: Lisa K.
Lock, Madelyn Shackelford Washington, J.J. Villar, Cameo Fasulo, Stella
Tolentino, and Stephanie Davis. Constituents for the Performing Arts
are constantly in need of innovative--aesthetically pleasing--works and these
teachers from the Southland are heeding to a call to action fulfilling the
need for new art in South America. At the conclusion of the workshop
Erica Oliviera and Miguel Rornero Baez-Artistic Directors of Aladanza-along
with their students will visit Souell to perform and teach our students,
rewarding Southern California with their talents. Students from both areas will combine
and perform choreography both in Los Angeles and Montevideo. |
